Out of Body Experiences: The Importance of OBEs & Ghosts

Out of Body Experiences:

The Importance of OBE’s & Ghosts

Out of Body Experiences or OBE’s, are the separation of a person’s spirit

from their body. They typically occur through trauma, sleep or meditation.

When one experiences an OBE, usually the spirit floats up and out of the

body and effectively “detaches.” During the experience, many report being

able to see their own body, while sometimes experiencing a “buzzing”

sound within the ears. What is amazing is the fact that the senses (sight

and sound) seem to remain active during the detachment from the physical

body, even though the physical eyes and ears are inactive due to being left

behind. However, during the Out of Body Experience, it is impossible for

one to speak, as the body remains apart from the spirit and faculties.

I know somewhat of this through my own experience which happened quite

by accident. During a relaxed time of meditation, I simply floated out of my

body and ascended above it. Being frightened during my unexpected

OBE, I fought to get back into my body while trying to call for help – I

thought perhaps I was dying. People who have experienced these Out of

Body phenomena tell of the simplicity of returning to the body: think about

the body, and you are back into the body. I suppose I returned to my body

as I thought and fought to do so; but it was just not quick enough for me in

my frenzied state.

During Out Of Body Experiences, many believe the spirit remains

connected to the body by what is known as the “silver cord.” This term is

found in the old testament of the bible. It is theorized, that if the silver cord

is severed, then death comes to the body. The spirit animates the flesh, so

therefore when one’s physical body dies, it is because the spirit has

completely detached and left the body.

It is well known that the more one has OBE’s, the easier it becomes to

separate from the body and travel about. There are those who have done

this and it is known as “Astral Projection.” I have known people who have

become familiar with “Astral Projection” and practice it. One in particular

has struggled with staying separated from his body. The minute he thinks

about the body, he is back in it. Another person I heard of became quite

proficient at Astral Projection. The Out of Body journeys became so

frequent and easy for this person to do, that he struggled with being able to

stay in his body! One friend of mine was ill as a child and found himself

confined to a hospital. With practice, he became quite good at journeying

out of the hospital and to his home at night – all out of his body. One night

he was in his sister’s room, and she woke up and was looking his

direction, even though she couldn’t see him. Somehow she knew he was

there. The next day, she asked him if he had been in her room. My friend

was shocked to say the least. This same person later had an NDE or

“Near Death Experience,” and saw his family members who had passed

and crossed over to the other side of the grave. To him, he knew that what

we call death is simply a doorway to the next world…the “afterlife.”

Near Death Experiences and Out of Body Experiences are closely related

in my opinion. In both cases, the body remains dormant while the true

person, “the spirit” travels about. And I have heard of people seeing God

and those “on the other side” during their OBE and NDE. The importance

of knowing all this is so we can have an understanding of ghosts and the

paranormal; for there is no death, but only life. Death is the illusion, for we

are all spirit and spirit is energy…life. I know personally from my own

experiences that leaving this body means still existing…existing in spirit.

To exist in spirit is to very much be conscious, aware of one’s

surroundings, thoughts, feelings and even more. We are all simply spirits

having an earthly experience through physical bodies. But the body is not

who we really are, for we are spirit. And ghosts are simply spirits without

bodies – people. Some believe that there are also energy imprints from

past events…past events that replay over and over, and these types of

ghosts have no recognition or consciousness; for the spirits are no longer

there, but their energy still remains. But ghosts that interact are

disembodied spirits. In both cases, it is evident that people are energy,

and energy is spirit. Physics tells us that energy cannot be destroyed only

changed. Therefore eternal life is true, and so are the stories of the

existence of ghosts. For we are energy: spirit.
