Cadby ghost

Location: Denaby Railtrack, Denaby (

Info:A girl know as the Mexborough Ragger is said to have been walking through a tunnel taking water to the quarry when a big train hit her. There is a archway in the tunnel wall, which you can sit in, then you say her name 3 times and she reappears walking through the tunnel.

Headless Highwayman

Location: Atwick - Roads in the area

Type: Haunting Manifestation

Info: This decapitated spectral bandit remains lurking in the shadows of his old ambush area.

The William Nevison

Location: Ardwick le Street - Hanging Wood

Type: Haunting Manifestation

Info: The woods is a popular place for Nevison, a highwayman, to lurk before riding out to commit his crimes. After he was hanged in York, his shade returned to the scene of better times.

Three Discs

Location: Conisborough - Skies above town

Type: UFO

Date / Time: 28 March 1966

Info: The famous black and white photograph of three discs flying over the town taken by a 15 year old school boy was revealed, much later, to be a hoax.

Music Box

Location: Doncaster - Burghwallis Hall,

Type: Haunting Manifestation

Date / Time: 1930s

Info: The sounds of a music box were heard around the hall 'before the days of radio', and a small woman dressed in dark clothing was observed walking down a corridor. Two more witnesses saw a man dressed in grey which they mistook as their father as he dashed down the staircase. This could be the same figure that one woman woke up to; he stood over her bed watching her with a look of hatred and madness, vanishing as she hit the lamp.

Grey Monk

Location: Conisborough - Conisborough Castle

Type: Haunting Manifestation

Date / Time: 1971

Info: Sightings of this spectral figure date back to the 1770s, when he was first seen drifting among the ruins. Reports also exist of sightings of a white woman, and the sounds of quiet voices and bumping.

Pennies from Nowhere

Location: Doncaster - Sayers Tyre and Exhaust Centre, Athron Street

Type: Poltergeist

Date / Time: Early 2003

Info: Stories of the building being haunted by a lonely man go back many years, though recently the manifestations have been stones and coinage that appear from nowhere and fly towards the owner of the garage.

Info: This tall, thin gentleman has been seen gazing at the portraits in the building, and is sometimes seen walking behind an important guest to the building.

Cynthia

Location: Doncaster - Volunteer Inn, Frenchgate (since demolished)

Type: Haunting Manifestation

Date / Time: 1950s

Info: Cynthia was the nickname given to this ghost by the landlord and his wife. They described the phantom woman as appearing so dainty and gentle that they grew attached to the spirit.

Tall Man

Location: Doncaster - Darlington Grove, Moorland

Date / Time: 1968

Info: A ghostly gentleman over six foot tall made several appearances in a house on this estate.

Green Serpent

Location: Easington - Off coast

Type: Cryptozoology

Date / Time: Late 1930s

Info: This sea creature was snakelike, possessing a flat head. It appeared to gasp for air as it skimmed across the waves.

Matching Soldier

Location: Doncaster - Just off the B1403,

Type: Haunting Manifestation

Date / Time: September 2005

Info: A couple in a parked car watched a soldier wearing a hat match by their car before vanishing in the beam of their headlights.
